Ryan is a Director at Dingley Marshall and oversees the Commercial Law Unit.
He specializes in commercial contracts and negotiation, consumer law, and commercial litigation. Ryan has also had extensive experience working with a number of companies in the ICT sector and has been exposed to end-to-end commercial technology transactions.
In light of Ryan’s experience he has a genuine understanding of the commercial and operational needs that drive businesses and how the legal barriers and opportunities can be leveraged to the benefit of the company.
Ryan completed his articles in the Cape Town offices of Bowman Gilfillan Inc before undertaking his MBA. He then worked as a Strategic and Credit Risk Consultant for Bentley West Management Consultants and PIC Solutions. Ryan also worked for a public sector consulting firm where he focused on a number of projects that involved addressing the challenges of the information society.
This involved being part of the team that conducted the international analysis on the promotion and use of Open Source Software and Open Content Standards for the Presidential National Commission; and co-authoring three chapters of a report for the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) titled “e-Government: e-Procurement and developing e-business capacity.”
Ryan then joined a subsidiary of Control Instruments Limited, namely OmniBridge (Pty) Ltd, as a Commercial Attorney. It was here that Ryan gained valuable experience with regards to mergers and acquisitions, commercial litigation and general drafting of commercial agreements.
