Andrew Marshall is a Director at Dingley Marshall and specialises in ICT law.
Andrew has a Master’s degree in the subject and also a background in software development. He assists clients with most aspects of ICT law, including software development & licensing, software implementation, software support & maintenance, hosting & co-location, intellectual property, domain name issues (including domain name disputes), communications and security policies, privacy (POPI), and e-commerce facilitation.
In addition to his commercial practice, Andrew acts as an adjudicator for the Wireless Application Service Providers’ Association (WASPA) and the Internet Service Providers’ Association (ISPA).
Andrew completed his articles with Rushmere Noach Inc in Port Elizabeth and then, keen to obtain practical software experience, completed a Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer course. He then moved to London and worked as a software developer for several years. His experience included work at a large ISP, a start-up online data storage company, and an online property search website.
On his return to South Africa in 2002, Andrew joined LawSure, a company offering innovative web-based solutions to the legal profession, and at the same time returned to practising the law.
Andrew later set up practice on his own specializing in ICT law, eventually joining Dingley Marshall as a director. During 2009 and 2010 Andrew assisted Accenture South Africa in a contract management role, and acquired extensive contract management skills that he utilises to assist clients, and which also give him an insight into how best to structure commercial relationships.
